The Department is a scientific unit involved in scientific research activity related to maritime traffic and transport. The Department is composed of teaching staff members with the research and teaching, teaching, and associate titles. Research activity is carried out in offices, navigating bridge simulators and on board ships. Research encompasses different aspects of traffic and transport, maritime traffic, river traffic and multimodal transport. Special attention is given to the construction, resistance and propulsion of vessels, navigation, stability, ship’s manoeuvring, maritime meteorology, safety on board and ship’s organisation.
